Johannesburg-based business transformation consultancy Ovations has acquired 51% of supply chain consultancy Agility Supply Chain Associates and their transport solutions division PlanForge.

Describing the investment as part of Ovations’ planned growth by acquisition strategy, Ovations’ managing director, Thys Bruwer, says that Agility will remain a separate entity with its own office, despite becoming an Ovations subsidiary.

While Agility is involved in a different area of specialisation and expertise to Ovations, he says the investment in a majority stake in Agility is part of Ovations’ strategy to strengthen its annuity income base.

“This acquisition falls in line with our overall growth strategy and gives us a strong foothold in the supply chain, logistics and transportation sectors,” says Bruwer.

PlanForge (a division of Agility) is a hosted service provider for transport planning solutions which brings a range of benefits to users through the implementation of integrated transportation management software and business processes. The focus is on its tried and tested work flow management solution enabling the running of a transport business cost effectively on a world class platform.
